Company Statement by founder Rodney Hearth

"What we see on our television screens is a reflection of the society we live in." has become the accepted mantra of the majority of producers, directors and controllers of programming.
"We are prepared to challenge the 'reflection theory' as being unproven, reflections are after all easily distorted. Recent evidence is emerging that, in fact, both television and radio are 'setting the standards'" states Rodney Hearth president of Mediterranean International Television.
"Porn, excessive violence and bad language have always been the target for the guardians of our airwaves and few would question the damage that this can cause to the young and the vulnerable; but a far more dangerous malaise has affected Society known as 'The East Enders Syndrome'. Our heroes and heroines, from actor to producer and beyond, of this and many other similar offerings eager to catch up in the ratings, are actually setting Society's standards.
The subliminal power of television is almost frightening, when the dysfunctional is portrayed as being 'every day' - so it becomes.
"For too long we have hidden behind the axioms of Choice and Appropriate and forgotten Good and Edifying".

Therefore to give a positive choice

A group of broadcasters has launched an ethical commercial television service to the English speaking expatriate community in the Costa del Sol on the Southern coast of Spain.

M.I.T.V. has been broadcasting to the region since 1993. At present the service is covering an area across the Southern Coast of Spain equivalent in size to Wales but we hope within 2 years to have acquired a satellite broadcasting platform which will cover the 740 million potential viewers across Europe.

Rodney Hearth believes that advertisers will want to reach the discerning, prosperous and numerous audience that is The Costa del Sol and in the near future the greater part of Europe and North Africa as satellite transmissions begin. "We will broadcast a full range of programmes selected to entertain, inform and educate our audience," he says, "notable by their absence from our schedules will be blasphemy, bad language and promotion of violence or immorality – Europe needs True Family Viewing.

"Our aim is to produce a Television Channel not to repress but to express the truth; to be fun, informative and influential. Our desire is to bring the fabulous dynamic richness of Southern Europe and in particular Andalusia with its unparalleled mixture of nations, cultures and arts to the rest of Europe and beyond"
